Learn About and Experience Spoken Language Technology

This site provides access to learning experiences related to language technologies and interactive systems. Here we provide a gateway to the many worldwide activities in language technologies—research efforts, language resources, conferences, etc. We also point you to publications, demonstrations, courses and interactive tutorials resulting from work at CSLU.

The Survey of the State of the Art of Human Language Technology, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and European Union, provides a good overview of the state of the art in many areas of language technology, with contributions from over 90 leading researchers. The entire survey can be read on-line or downloaded from the CSLU web site.

A good way to learn about language technologies and interactive systems is to build them and use them. From here, you can access demonstrations of text-to-speech synthesis, and some of the interactive tutorials in the CSLU toolkit.
